Threat and Promise

Fay slogs and swirls across the South,
dumps floods in Florida,
offers rain to drought-stricken areas.
As my lawn browns
and my flowers shrivel and droop,
I watch the silver skies,
the skirts of Fay's clouds,
and long for rain.

Trust or Resignation?

I ask myself,
"What is the difference between trust and resignation?"
Both require letting go.
Both require acceptance.
I decide
resignation is a copout;
trust is engagement.
