Benediction: Rationale for Blog Name

I love words and the Word, thus the name of my blog, a place where I can post thoughts, feelings, and insights in a variety of word-related categories: poetry, fiction, Bible, church, garden, critters, and blues music, to name a few. My rationale for the blog title is in the etymology of the word "benediction," the thing we preachers do at the end of a worship service to bless people out the door of the sanctuary and into ministry. The Latin words put together to create this word were "bene" which means well or good, and "dicere" which means "to speak or say." The noun form of "dicere" evolved into "diction," thus the title of my blog, A Good Word. In addition, the title carries constellations of biblical meaning around God speaking creation into existence in Genesis and around Jesus Christ as God's Word, that is "logos," the creative, rational, organizing power of God throughout eternity. Heady, hearty stuff!

Well, I can't believe you got a blog before me. However, I have the beginnings of a blog on facebook. If you ever join that network, I would be happy to have you as a friend.
